visualizing music through synesthetic virtual sculptures |
OVERVIEW Adrian
Johnson is the lead musician / designer at Neurode Forge.
He received his BS and MS in Computer Science from the University of
Colorado at Colorado Springs with areas of focus including computer
graphics, emergent behavior, visual arts, mathematics, and music
theory. Adrian handles most of the Neurode Forge projects, but has a
team of talented colleagues who are available to
contribute.
Emergent Behavior Research Our main areas of research include procedural geometry creation, evolutionary techniques for music composition and animation systems, evolved artificial neural networks, and evolutionary stock portfolio selection. Adrian's Masters Thesis was devoted to development of procedural geometry synthesis algorithms for creation of animations to visualize elements within a music composition. The second layer of logic was a genetic algorithm for evaluating the appeal of the form, motion, and symmetry of the animation. The thesis was entitled "Aesthetic Emergence in Synesthetic Sculptures." The thesis work spanned several disciplines: music composition, signal processing, visual arts, visualization programming, and genetic algorithm design. Graphic Design and Music Production Adrian paid for the majority of his undergraduate degree with freelance web design work and audio production, and was profiled by Apple Computer for his entrepreneurial skills. The interview was seen at the Apple web site, Netscape home page, and elsewhere. Adrian is classically trained in strings and composition. In addition to working on your audio's mix and mastering, he can add viola, violin, cello, or guitar parts to your compositions. With the experiences and influences from several international remix projects, international live performances, two solo albums released under the pseudonym Rustcycle, Adrian can offer you a variety of ideas for your project. Cross-Pollination As emphasized in the best-selling book The Medici Effect by Frans Johansson, today's rapid innovations stem from the areas of overlap between disciplines. We have the depth and breadth to deliver unique solutions to meet your needs, drawing from several fields of study. Whether you require consultation, design, or implementation we look forward to collaborating with you! |
